So, we busted out the tripod at home and took some hi-resolution pictures of ourselves to submit to the caricature artist who will be at our wedding.
I kiiiind of noticed this before but it wasn't really until we took these like passport-style photos of only/mostly our heads that I realized... mine is like 2 sizes bigger than Will's!!! His head looks like a small to mid-sized spaghetti squash while mine looks like a mid to large honeydew melon!
I think I need to stand like 6" - 12" behind him at all times during our wedding portraits. =/
So, here is an example of a digital, colored caricature that the
caricature artist, Julia, has done for past clients. She hand sketches a
rough draft and then scans it in to flush out with color, shading, and
other details. I asked for the same pose and sky-writing... but made changes to all the other stuff. My dress has a longer train, I'm wearing a longer veil without tiara, no earrings, a crystal necklace... and the background will be Atlantis with a little surprise that we shall reveal later.
With that said... I have a preliminary rough draft of our heads. At first, I was shocked because Will's cartoon self looks JUST like him. Don't know how, it just does... see for yourself. However, mine looks off somehow. Are the eyes too far apart? Is it like my maid-of-honor & artist extraordinaire said and there just isn't enough "cuteness" being captured?? Well, when it comes down to it... all she can see are still photos of me. I think that maybe a picture IS worth a thousand words but it takes waaaaay more than that to capture me and my BIG spirit! LoL.
At any rate, I have a lot of appreciation for people who are artistic and do beautiful work... so I don't think I will micro-manage and demand changes. It's just a rough draft and she hasn't done any of the shading or coloring (makeup!). I think I will be very happy with the end result - and if not I can still spend the rest of our life together making fun of Will's peanut head. Hee hee. I wiiiiiiill ask what the heck my cartoon self is looking at... because right now it just looks like I'm not paying attention!! Hmmm... maybe she knows me better than I thought!!!! =)

Office Carbs
If you have ever worked in an office any nature, shape, or size... then you know that there are ALWAYS occasions for people to bring in all kinds of homemade or store-bought baked goods. Any reason at all. Birthdays, Holidays, Retirements, Babies, Promotions, Going Away Send-Offs, etc. It's good and it's terrible at the same time.
However, the point here is: don't give in! Everyone believes these office events give them a free-pass to shove otherwise unthinkable amounts of sugar loaded, tasty, doughy treats into their faces. And because everyone is jovially sharing this wonderful social experience together, it will feel accepted and justified. You also feel HIGH from all the sugar and probably caffeine.
One catch. If you decline... your apparent display of reason and self-restraint makes them feel GUILTY. You've just destroyed everyone's happy place. Good job, Ace.
They will try to convince you to "just eat one... because it's [name]'s [occasion] and there's soooooo much [items] and we shouldn't waste it." And when their efforts fail, they try to make you feel bad and write you off as a freak. "Well, you don't know what you're missing out." "You're no fun." "You suck."
It's not your fault if you don't want to carb-out and eat like 1,800 calories in one sitting. And why undertake the inevitable crazy sugar spike and risk falling asleep during the meeting with the entire office watching as you fall out of your chair. You're an informed adult. Make good decisions.
But with all that said... I freaking LOVE brownies. And I would have happily shoveled them one right after another into my happy little face. Except I just didn't bring any toothpicks and didn't want brownie bits all over my braces. Crisis averted.
